Risk Tiering & Merchant Profiling

  • Merchants are categorized based on risk profile (low/medium/high) with appropriate onboarding and transaction controls.

Data Privacy

  • Compliant with POPIA (South Africa), GDPR (EU), and international data protection laws.
  • User data is encrypted, securely stored, and never shared without consent.

Cross-Border Licensing

Terms of Use

Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the E Pay platform (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use and all applicable laws. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

Use of the Platform

You may use E Pay for lawful purposes only. You agree to provide accurate information and maintain the security of your account. E Pay reserves the right to suspend accounts suspected of fraudulent, abusive or illegal activity.

Wallet & Transactions

You can top up your wallet via EFT, credit/debit card or cryptocurrency (where available). Transactions are subject to verification and regulatory compliance, including KYC/AML screening. Cross-border transactions may be subject to FX conversion and applicable fees.

Refunds & Disputes

Merchants can issue refunds via the merchant dashboard. E Pay will mediate disputes where applicable but is not responsible for the underlying product or service.

Fees

Applicable fees are disclosed on our pricing page and may vary by region, service or partner.

Intellectual Property

All content, software and trademarks on E Pay are owned by MoneyWise Global or its licensors. Unauthorized use is prohibited.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for breach of these terms or any regulatory concerns.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the Western Cape, unless otherwise agreed.

Privacy Policy

E Pay Global (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates a South African online payments platform that enables customers to purchase and manage prepaid utilities (electricity, water, gas), airtime, data bundles, and related services. We are committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), Act 4 of 2013, and other applicable laws. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, secure and retain your data, and informs you of your rights.

1. Scope & Applicability

 

This policy applies exclusively to personal information processed by E Pay in connection with:

  • Our website and mobile applications (e.g.www.epay.africa)
  • Transactional integrations with utility and telecom providers
  • Customer service interactions (phone, email, chat)
  • Merchant and agent portals

2. Key Definiitions

Personal Information: Any information relating to an identifiable natural or juristic person (e.g. name, ID Number, contact details).

Processing: Collection, receipt, recording, organization, structuring, storage, updating, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure, destruction, or any operation performed on personal information.

Data Subject: The individual or entity to whom personal information relates.

3. Information we Collect

1. Identity & Contact Data

  • Full name, date of birth (where required), gender (optional)
  • Physical address (for verification), email address, telephone/Whatsapp number

2. Verification & Compliance Data

  • South African ID number, passport number or company registration number (for merchant/agent onboarding)
  • Proof of address (utility bill, bank statement)

3. Account & Transaction Data

  • Username, password (hashed), security questions
  • Purchase history (token purchases, airtime/data top-ups)
  • Payment instrument details (card number, bank account) via secure payment gateway.

4. Technical & Usage Data

  • IP address, browser type, device identifiers, operating system
  • Cookies and usage analytics (session duration, pages visited)

5. Communications Data

  • Correspondence records (emails, chat transcripts, call logs)
  • Marketing preferences and consents

4. Methods of Collection

  • Directly from you: When you register, make a purchase, update your profile or communicate with our support team.
  • Automatically: Via cookies, web beacons, server logs when you access our webiste or apps.
  • From service providers: Identify verification services, payment processors and credit reference agencies, strictly for compliance and fraud preventions.

5. Purpose & Legal Bases of Processing

We process personal information for purposes that include, but are not limited to:

  • Account Management & Authentication (necessary for contract performance)
  • Transaction Processing & Settlement (necessary for contract performance)
  • Regulatory Compliance & Fraud Prevention (legal obligation under FICA/POPIA)

6. Consent & Withdrawal

  • Providing personal information and creating an account constitutes consent to this Policy.

8. International Transfers

When sharing data with service providers outside South Africa, we ensure adequate safeguards (e.g. standard contractual clauses) to maintain POPIA-compliant protection.

9. Data Security

We implement and maintain technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
  • Secure hashing of passwords and sensitive credentials
  • Role-based access controls, multi-factor authentication for internal systems
  • Regular security vulnerability assessments and penetration testing

10. Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill service delivery, legal or regulatory obligations:

  • Transaction Records: 5 years (per South African Revenue Service requirements)
  • Account Data: Until account closure plus 1 year for dispute resolution
  • Support & Communication logs: 2 years
  • Analytics & Cookies: Session-based or up to cookie expiration (max. 12 months)

Thereafter, data is securely deleted or irreversibly anonymized.
